Dubai-based Carter Hones Associates expands into UK and Europe

Middle East-based project development consultancy Carter Hones Associates is expanding into the UK and European markets with the opening of a London headquarters, Property Week can reveal.

Design management specialist Jennifer Sale has been appointed as director to spearhead the London launch. Sale, a registered architect, was previously associate director at Plan A Consultants and has worked across sectors including cultural, aviation, master planning future cities, hospitality and sports.

Carter Hones said the move will enable it to work closer with European architects, developers and other partners, while provide existing international clients with “greater on-the-ground support”.

Founded in Dubai in 2010, the consultancy offers a range of  services, having supported the development of more than 500 projects across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Sectors covered by the consultancy have included major hospitality, leisure, residential, mixed-use and master planning-led developments.

“It’s about harnessing the reputation [Carter Hones] has built over the last 16 years in the Middle East and bringing that over,” Sale said. “The clients it already works with have headquarters in London, so it makes sense for us to be there.

“We have some very bold and ambitious goals. The first is supporting the architects we’re already working with. We want to make sure we strengthen and bolster those relationships.

“We would also like to tap into a different type of client; developers. We’re really keen to build a new network of developers and end clients in parallel to architects and understand what their challenges are and how we can support them.

“The market’s really busy in Saudi, the Middle East, Oman, etc. It’s worldwide. London is a challenging market. We’re not expecting to win a project in London from day one, but it’ll be great if we can, and we’ll make sure we’ve got the right skills behind us to help.”
